Only Quality
Materials Are Used To Create A Quality Product…
The Finest Quality Timber
We
only use timber from sustainable forests to manufacture our products.
European and Russian redwood, carefully selected by ourselves to
ensure we reach the highest standard of quality and in accordance
with BS1186 Part 1 1986, is mainly used to produce our products.
Where specified our windows and doors can also
be manufactured using the finest Hardwood with
choices varying from Brazilian Cedar to Oak.
Our Commitment to the Environment
Sustainable – “capable of being maintained at a
steady level without exhausting natural resources or causing sever
ecological damage”
Timber is the most sustainable material for use when manufacturing
doors and windows.
Trees are esential for the absobtion of carbon dioxide. They do this through a process called photosythesis, which uses carbon dioxide and water to produce sugar and oxygen. The oxygen is then released back into the atmosphere.
As trees become older they become less able to absorb carbon
dioxide. It is therefore essential that we harvest these trees and
replace them with younger ones. Under the rules of the certified
forest management, for every tree cut down, two new ones are planted.
Greenpeace, who have spent years researching the
pro’s and con’s of PVCu versus Timber are categorical
with their conclusion:
“As long as timber is sourced from properly managed forests
and care is taken in the choice of preservatives, paints and stains,
timber windows are by far the best environmental choice”
Lamination
We laminate a lot of our timber before it reaches our machinery. Lamination allows us to choose the most suitable parts of the timber and reduces warping of the wood. By laminating the timber more finely we can achieve more complex shapes and designs such as gothic arches and circular windows.
Factory Pre-Finishing
Our
products are supplied pre-finished. Our standard finish consists
of a two-coat micro-porous water based paint. However factory pre-finishing
is also available in a stain. The finish is applied to the timber
using a spray method, which provides excellent coverage and allows
us to effectively cover all areas of the product. Because of the
care we take in pre-finishing our product maintenance intervals
can be reduced.
Glass
As
standard our windows are fitted with 24mm thick, sealed double glazing
units. These compose of 2 x 4mm float glass and a 16mm cavity. The
inner pane has a low 'E' coating and complies with Part L of the
Building Regulations.
I
wanted to write to thank you and your men properly for the
excellent job you did at Kirkby Thore School. The windows
and doors were fitted with minimum fuss and disruption to
the school and we all found yourself and the workmen friendly
and helpful. I would have no hesitation in recommending you
to others and would welcome you back to the school for any
other work as required.
Thank you,
Christine Wilson
